The game has started and whether Dutch will win the Championship or not (octopus lies, our canary said something completely different), I'll forever remember following hour or so, as the one when all races, religions and nations stood united under one flag (wearing very unflattering royal orange color).  It took football to achieve this unity..........confusing.......

Cutting Corner

DUSTORSION - bad dustitude

Dear Steff,

Thank you for letting us dusturb at your brilliant blog kaKofonie Of si(gh)lenS, it was our pleasure being In This Corner.

This is was the content of our guest post, for you lazy to click:

fashion is :

sword2

1/3 amazing, shocking, mesmerizing mirage that we can't help staring at

2/3 technical, precise, analytical data of measures, patterns, industrial processes, market and commerce

...selling neatly bottled dreams...

When you wrote about the dusturbance previously, here, here and there, we loved that you addressed us personally, it feels good to know that we are part of the community and not just some brand name.  There is this artificial distance between creator and wearer that is still a part of  hierarchy that keeps us on the opposite sides of market food-chain, even in the free world of fashion blogging. There are some people and efforts on both sides to bridge the gap and you are one of those people, we like to think we are too.

We can enjoy images and great posts, clever comments and e-mail correspondence, but nothing beats a good, honest share.

Looking forward to future!

Susie Bubble found it.

Damn right and good to the last tread. Worlds apart from alarming ones that were revealed by Ashe Mischief .

Just to make sure, both blogs are sheer brilliance, the attention is on the news.

When there was just a though, it had nothing to think about

DUSTORSION - bad dustitude

I've made it so difficult for myself to start a story about the latest edition (I must start using a proper word for it, instead of word collection) ( listen to me carefully, I will say this only once) (Garance does this, right?) (but never more than 3times in a row) (5x, Tavi style).

It is necessary to back-paddle to dustant past for a moment, to make sure that you still remember:

"We are dusturbance.
Our aim is dusturb though the process of dustilation.
We share a collective thought with fashion and art, sometimes to admire, often to disagree. Every dustorsion is welcome. There are side doors waiting to be opened and there is never only one way to that pretty picture or that pretty dress. The ones that we are inspired to make begin their life in our hands, but resolve themselves only when they reach yours.... so the long chain of ideas can start... "

In other words, if you can't beat them, be faster than them.

In plain words, where there is action there is a reaction.

Putting these two together will give you the idea of why and how we approached the problem.  And then by the terms of dusturbance, we forwarded the problem to you, ha, ha, ha, ha..... Noooo, of course not, simply because there is no initial problem, no starting point, just the continuous doubt. The ongoing process and hopefully, development.

break

This picture was taken this winter during one of our long, tiring brain-storm sessions. We had to reapply many, many times.

Many, many times..

I've mentioned the other day on this blog that fashion is a reactive substance, it responds to the (dust)turbulence of reality, really quickly, sometimes even violently.  The reaction is caused by chain of events and it remains a chain reaction. You, we, are part of that process. Nothing special at all. We are creatures of habits and conditioned to do certain things without judging them, like who cares if I already have 100 pairs of shoes, I'll be getting this one and the other one, just watch me! kinda way. Admit it, we mastered the art of finding the excuse for consumerism ( is shopping artist the next big thing, after the blog goldmine gets exhausted?).

In order for us to be able to fall asleep peacefully in the night, we used all that Art Academy thought us, plus  huge real-life experience and we learned from the mistakes of others, and felt responsible to think of  something that will make up to the society all our past, present and future purchases. Being artists and creative already, we had only one choice left.

The evening when it was named dusturbance, we slept like babies.

To be continued...

Truly, we had a couple of the busiest weeks ever. The mayhem started with preparing for FASHIONCLASH, preparing the edition and doing the actual show and ended yesterday, when we had a great day helping Katie with her Art Director brand new title at Tony&Guy's. It is known that hanging around with hair people is time well spent. It was.

We didn't expect that much good work done yesterday. The FASHIONCLASH was supposed to be a peak and this event was planed to be a random collaboration, we never did a styling with our own stuff and it sounded like an adventure with party time included. Like I said, it was, only 10x more than expected. The way it all turned out to snap together in all the right places was just too good.

At first I spoke to Katie only over the phone and we made all arrangements before we even met, a couple a weeks ago, when she visited our studio. My first impression was, she looks just like Christie with eyebrows, excellent sign. She explained previously that her collection was inspired with birds and guess what we were working on, and mentioned sexiness later in the studio. Got me puzzled, sexy? How do we do sexy, our way?

There is an ongoing discussion about sex/y in fashion and general on different fellow blogs and it just worried me, doing sexy with intent with our clothes, but was irresistibly challenging at the same time. It provided us with unique opportunity to see our work in different light and in a surprisingly close-to-life situation. The models looked like well groomed possible dusturbance wearers and being just really beautiful non-professional models, with healthy bodies, in all shapes, sizes and colours, even the pregnant one, they carried the clothes very naturally and filled the dresses with with life. It was amazing to see, and hear, how the clothes work in action, we were just melting into tiny pearls of drool. We tried to respect their bodies and personal styles, while having Kate's work firm on our mind.

Girls loved being polished and pampered and felt pretty and relaxed, they really shined. The hair, clothes and models just complimented each other, it was a great pleasure seeing it all come together. Sexy came out to the surface in an unexpected vision of beauty.

Make-up crew did a great job, but kept themselves on the side, we didn't even get an eye contact from them, ha, ha... we can't please anybody....

The location of the show was just ridiculous, it used to be old gay-sauna in centre of Amsterdam, an 80's darkly painted dodgy club on a couple of floors, with low ceilings and all suspicious stuff  you can imagine running down the walls. Downstairs, on the dance-floor area, one had to bend down to escape the disco-ball. The place is now used for performance and video art and similar artistic agenda, preserved in it's original state of gross. Models were delivered from the studio space to the show location in old, battered 6door limos. How Kate managed to organize this, I don't wanna know. The whole thing was well documented and is expected to appear in our inbox soon.

The girls wiggled their hips on the catwalk, walked very energetically, which is something we wouldn't ever allow on a normal fashion catwalk, but  it didn't matter, it was not our issue, we just stood in a back, flabbergasted from laughter, looking at our work becoming a part of somebody else's work, enjoying the way it left our hands and was forwarded to others, in front our eyes, a dream come true. It did stuff that I only hoped it could do and letting it go beyond our control felt very rewarding.

We also strongly held our position in a room and received many compliments, hyper and happy, charming the crowd, sending the dusturbances all around.

Later, in a car, while the young couple was kissing on the back seat, Birdeater and me headbanged to some favorites. Life was good and for a second there, we thought we're gonna live forever.

DUSTORSION - dustup

I dare to predict the favorite new word of the following season , it is going to be GAMINE all over the place! I hear it already, gamine this, gamine that. Like all the nude stuff that was unfortunately produced, but doesn't flatter many, had to be put in good use but it could be saved only by a 70's gimmick trick, so, hop-la, gamine we go. Again...

Fashion really doesn't change, it's just responds to the world. It's a very reactive substance. This time the fire was too low to reach a melting point, so a lukewarm trend will have to do it for now.

I could put any photo and call it gamine, and you would believe it. I'll save you by not putting any.

The Best Hair Day

DUSTORSION - local

Dusturbance is invited to help dress up Kate's master hair-dresser show. This is the first time dusturbance is doing this sort of collaboration, but since we are very much aware of importance of good hair, this was not to be missed. For this styling job we are going to use our new and previous collections, plus some items from our ready-to-wear line and mix them all up into something new.

The show will be at the very interestiong location in Amsterdam, in what used to be old sauna.

Pass by this Sunday to see us in action!
